Local/ EAS Access Numbers

There is some confusion as to what exactly a Local Call is. To many, a local call is any call that is not Long Distance and to others, local calls are those that are free. To further confuse the issue, many telephone companies use the term EAS which stands for Extended Area Service, or EAC which stands for Extended Area Call. An EAS/EAC call does not have a per minute charge like a long distance call, but rather has a nominal Per Call charge of approximatly $.05-$.16, regardless of the length of the call. If you are not certain, we suggest you check with your local telephone company on the cost to call the number below for your location.
